Give from your IRA

If you are 70½ or older, you can direct a gift from your IRA to The Alexander Foundation as a Qualified Charitable Distribution. It is one of the simplest tax-smart ways to give.

Why a QCD

  • Potential tax advantages. QCDs may reduce taxable income when paid directly from your IRA to an eligible charity. Consult your advisor.
  • Counts toward your RMD. If you are 73 or older, a QCD can satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution.
  • Immediate impact. Your gift can be put to work for families right away.

How to make a QCD

  1. Contact your IRA custodian and ask for their QCD form.
  2. Provide our details: The Alexander Foundation, EIN 03-0534249, PO Box 584, Grand Blanc, MI 48439, [email protected].
  3. Have the check made payable to The Alexander Foundation and mailed to our address, or sent electronically if your custodian supports it.
  4. Email us so we can watch for your gift and send your acknowledgment promptly.

Information only. The Alexander Foundation does not provide tax or legal advice. Please consult your advisor.

Common questions

Is there an annual limit?
For 2025 the limit is $108,000 per individual across all QCDs; it is indexed for inflation each year. A spouse may also give up to their own limit from their own IRA.
Do I also get a deduction?
QCDs are excluded from income, so there is no additional charitable deduction for the same dollars. For many donors the exclusion is more valuable than a deduction.
Which accounts are eligible?
Traditional, rollover and inherited IRAs. Workplace plans such as 401(k) and 403(b) accounts are not eligible for direct QCDs.

Two ways to take the next step

For families

You are not alone in this.

If your child has Cloverleaf Syndrome or another craniofacial condition and the bills are piling up, tell us what is happening. We help where we can, and we will point you to people who can help with the rest.

For supporters

Every dollar reaches a family.

Nobody at the foundation is paid. Apart from minimal supplies and tax filing, every gift goes to families, hospitals, schools and books that change how children treat each other.
